Wellness Retreat

April 30, 2024 Quispamsis United Church

CLG put on a retreat! The focus was health and wellness. Jane started off the day with great information on healthy eating ideas and provided delicious snacks made with yummy ingredients! Then Karen led us in a great introduction to Yoga. We were relaxed in our chairs and learned some good stretches, none that turned us into pretzels! She finished of with a peaceful meditation.

Lunch break and then Tania presented a talk on managing stress, lots of great ideas and handouts to refer to at home.

All in all it was a success, we are looking forward to the next one!

St. Patrick's Day

March 18, 2024 Quispamsis United Church

The luck o’ the Irish was very much in evidence at coffee hour after the service on Sunday. A very talented wee leprechaun prepared this beautiful Saint Paddy’s Day table with cake, cookies, and some lucky gold coins! It may not be easy being green but that didn’t stop many in the congregation who got into the spirit with green shirts, scarves, hats and buttons…. And of course shamrocks in abundance! More fellowship and good fun at QUC! 🍀🍀🍀

Following yesterday’s Sunday Service, the QUC congregation unanimously approved a "Faith Profile Report" that outlines the focus for ministry that the congregation will pursue over the next several years, and identifies the type of permanent minister we'll be looking for. Kudos to the Committee for a great job! And here's a photo of many of our members who gathered this morning (including those on Zoom!)

Study Series - Kate Bowler

March 5, 2024 Quispamsis United Church

Rev Ian started his 3-week discussion (via Zoom) of Kate Bowler’s moving memoir, Everything Happens For a Reason, and Other Lies I’ve Loved. Bowler writes openly and honestly about being diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer, wrestling with the question of how such a bad thing could happen to a “good” person like her, and developing a new awareness of how God is present in the midst of life’s fragilities, messiness, and disappointments.

Lenten Study Series

March 5, 2024 Quispamsis United Church

Rev. Manson began with our Lenten Study Series. As part of our ongoing efforts to make connections with other groups in our community, Rev Ian will be leading a five-week exploration of some of the world’s major religions on Tuesday mornings at the church. Growing numbers of people from various parts of the world are moving to southern New Brunswick and bringing their religious traditions with them, so this is a great opportunity to begin learning about some of the beliefs and values of our new neighbours. We’ll be looking at the basic tenets of Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, and Judaism, and examining some of the similarities and differences between their traditions and ours.

Shrove Tuesday

March 5, 2024 Quispamsis United Church

Our pancake supper was superb! There were so many cooks in the kitchen!!! After a slow start, which gave the cooks time to get ahead of the pancakes, MacDonald Hall was filled with people in no time at all. The tables were adorned by vases of flowers done by Sharon Eldridge, our in-house florist! There were more desserts than were needed, but if you have to take two of each to get them gone…..go for it! Another success!

Blessing Bags

February 28, 2024 Quispamsis United Church

QUC is awesome! The congregation once again supported the Blessing Bags initiative beyond our wildest dreams. A small army of men took all the bags and water up into the office. Staff, volunteers and clients were so very appreciative of the bags. We were told their supplies were getting low so our effort was very timely. Along with the more than 50 bags, $150.00 was also collected, we used this money to purchase Tim Horton gift cards.
